Form Cues, Clipped On
FormCoach Clip is a compact, clamp-mounted motion sensor for common gym equipment. It uses movement readings and vibration cues during a set, then presents biomechanics-oriented feedback on a phone after the set. A phone camera can be enabled by the user for supported exercises. The campaign supports prototype refinement, mounting tests, calibration work, and an initial production run for home-gym users and personal-training clients.

The story
Many people train with equipment that provides resistance but little direct feedback about how it is being moved. A home-gym user may repeat an exercise without noticing changes in tempo, range, or equipment path. A personal trainer may observe a client during a session, but cannot be present for every set completed between appointments. Video can be useful, yet it is not always convenient to set up, and some users do not want a camera running while they train. FormCoach Clip is a proposed coaching aid built around a compact motion sensor that clamps onto compatible common gym equipment. During a set, the clip reads movement and can deliver simple vibration cues. After the set, the companion phone experience is intended to present biomechanics-oriented feedback based on the recorded movement. For supported exercises, users may choose to enable their phone camera as an additional input. Camera use is optional and controlled by the user; FormCoach Clip does not include a built-in camera. The product is intended for home-gym users and personal-training clients who want a practical way to review movement across equipment rather than rely on a single fixed machine. Its clamp and contact pads are planned to accommodate a defined range of equipment profiles, but not every bar, handle, cable attachment, or frame will be suitable. Setup will require the clip to be mounted in the documented position and calibrated for the exercise. Feedback will depend on stable mounting, exercise selection, movement conditions, and the individual user. It is not a substitute for professional coaching, clinical assessment, or personal judgment. Development will focus first on the physical clip, mounting reliability, motion-reading repeatability, cue timing, battery behavior, and phone connection…

Risks and challenges
FormCoach Clip must remain securely mounted across varied equipment shapes without affecting normal use. Motion feedback can be affected by placement, vibration, exercise technique, body variation, and phone connection latency. Initial exercise and equipment coverage will be limited while calibration is tested. Battery duration, charging behavior, and cue timing require prototype validation. Optional phone-camera workflows depend on the user's phone placement, lighting, framing, and consent. The device is a coaching aid, not a medical device, injury-prevention product, or replacement for qualified professional instruction.
