The story

Spoken work often becomes scattered notes, incomplete recollections, and recordings that are difficult to revisit. Meetings move quickly, interviews contain details that are easy to miss, and lectures can be hard to search later. Existing recording tools commonly depend on remote processing, which can be unsuitable when audio contains private work, source material, or personal information. EchoClip is a compact magnetic pendant designed to create a local record of conversations, meetings, interviews, and lectures. It records audio through dual microphones, stores encrypted files on internal storage, and processes transcription and structured summaries on the device. The intended result is a searchable record that remains under the user's physical control rather than requiring private audio to be sent to a cloud service for analysis. The device has a clear operational model. A physical button starts and stops recording. A front status light and audible start and stop signals make recording visible and audible to people nearby. After recording, EchoClip processes the file locally and presents a transcript, speaker-separated sections where audio conditions allow, and a structured summary with topics, decisions, action items, and open questions. Users can review and correct output before relying on it. Speaker separation, transcription quality, and summaries will vary with room acoustics, distance, overlapping voices, accents, background noise, and the language model available on the device. Risks and challenges

Local transcription and summarization require meaningful processing power in a small enclosure. Long recordings may increase heat, reduce battery runtime, and require charging before processing is complete. Speaker separation is less reliable with overlapping speech, distant participants, echo, or noise. Encrypted local storage must be implemented without making backup and file transfer confusing. Magnet strength, microphone placement, supplier availability, and production testing can affect the final design and schedule. The campaign should communicate tested limits rather than promise universal accuracy or all-day recording.
